Dhanapal Metals

We are located at Dhanapal Metals at 120 Chellappa Counder Street in Kattoor. It is a loud street because there are many workshops around here. You can hear the sounds of metal being moved and cut from early morning until late evening. Our place is quite big but it is filled with all sorts of metal scraps and sheets. It gets very hot in the afternoons because of the roof and the machinery running. The floor is usually covered in a bit of metal dust so everyone wears heavy boots. We have a small office in the front where the phone rings quite a bit. It’s mostly regular customers calling to see if their orders are ready or asking about prices for copper and brass. The street outside is narrow and sometimes the trucks get stuck trying to turn the corner. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading things. It’s physical work and it’s dirty but it’s what we know. My father started things here and now we just keep it going the same way. We don't have fancy brochures or a front desk. You just walk in and talk to whoever is available. Most of the guys have worked here for ten years or more. We just want to get the orders out on time and make sure the weights are right. That’s about it for a normal day here. The local tea shop delivers to us three times a day and that is usually the highlight of our afternoon.
