Our shop is at Number 5 on Rajappa Lane, right by the SJP Road Cross. It is one of those old, narrow lanes in Bangalore where everyone is selling something related to hardware or steel. We have been in this same spot for a long time. The shop is very simple, just some heavy racks for the steel and a small wooden desk where we do the billing. It can get quite hot inside during the summer, so we keep the fans running all day long. There is always a layer of dust on everything, but that is just part of being in this neighborhood. We don't have a website or a big sign outside. Most people find us just by walking down the lane or hearing about us from someone else. We open up the shutters early in the morning and don't close until late. Sometimes the lane gets so crowded with people and carts that it is hard to move, but we just work around it. We don't use any fancy sales talk. If we have what you need, we tell you, and if we don't, we might know who does. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, and we like it that way. We drink a lot of coffee from the nearby stall and talk to the other shopkeepers while we wait for the next person to come in. It’s just regular work in a busy market.
