Darshan Rice Traders

Down on 1st Main Road in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar, that’s where you’ll find Darshan Rice Traders. We deal in rice, mostly in bulk, but we help individuals too. The warehouse is usually full of heavy sacks stacked almost to the ceiling. It’s dusty work, and you definitely get a workout lifting those bags all day. We’ve been here in RT Nagar for a good while. The neighborhood has changed, but the demand for good rice hasn't really gone anywhere. We have different varieties, some for everyday meals and others for special occasions. We don't use fancy packaging or have a shiny storefront. It’s just the warehouse and a small area where we handle the billing. Sometimes the trucks have a hard time navigating the 1st Main Road, especially when it’s raining or there’s construction. We just wait it out and get the unloading done when we can. It’s a straightforward business. We check the grains, weigh the bags, and make sure the customers get what they paid for. It’s not glamorous, but it’s what we know. The smell of raw rice is everywhere here. Most of our regulars are families from around the area who have been buying from us for years. We just keep our heads down and keep the stock moving. It's a lot of physical labor but it keeps us busy and the bills paid at the end of the month.
