Our facility is located out in Jigani, which is quite a haul from the center of Bangalore. It is a big industrial patch of land where lots of things are being built. We are a subsidiary of a group in Singapore, but on the ground here, it just feels like a regular local workshop. We have our machines and our crews, and we spend most of the shift moving steel around. The dust from the road often blows into the loading bays. It is a very practical environment. We don't have many decorations on the walls, just some safety posters and a calendar that is usually a month behind. We handle the prefab side of things, so there is always a lot of assembly going on. It gets loud when the saws are running. We communicate mostly by shouting over the noise or using hand signals. It is not a corporate headquarters with glass walls. It is a place where work actually happens. Most of the staff live nearby and commute on their bikes. We have a small area where we take our lunch breaks together. We don't talk about missions or visions; we just talk about the schedule for the week. The rain in Bangalore sometimes floods the driveway, but we just push through it. It is an honest way to make a living and we stay busy with the orders.
