Crescenta Computers

Our shop is at 78 St. Johns Road, which is right near the Lavanya Theatre. If you see the movie posters, you are close. Crescenta Computers is usually full of half-opened machines and wires running across the floor. There is a smell of warm electronics and maybe a bit of dust because we are always blowing out old fans. We spend most of our time hunched over desks looking at motherboards or trying to figure out why a screen won't turn on. People bring in their laptops with cracked hinges or PCs that have just stopped working. It is a bit messy, but we know where everything is. The traffic on St. Johns Road can be loud, but we usually have a radio playing in the back to drown it out. We have a small counter where people drop off their stuff and we give them a handwritten receipt. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for a part to arrive in the mail. We aren't a big retail chain, just a local spot where you can get your computer looked at. Sometimes we stay late because a job is harder than we thought it would be. We just keep working until the thing starts up again. It is satisfying when a dead computer finally beeps and comes back to life. There is always a stack of old keyboards in the corner waiting to be recycled.
