Being located on Church Street means there is never a dull moment at Arun Photography. This part of the city is always moving, with students, shoppers, and office workers passing by our door every single minute. It’s one of those streets where you can just stand outside for five minutes and see all kinds of interesting characters. Our studio isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit in all our lights and backgrounds over the years. Some days it feels a bit cramped when we have a whole family coming in for a portrait, but we make it work somehow. We spend a lot of time checking our cameras and making sure the lenses are clean because the dust from the street finds its way into everything. When it rains, which happens a lot here, the street gets all shiny and we usually have people huddled under our small awning to stay dry. We don’t really go in for fancy marketing or big slogans; we just take the photos and hope the people like how they turned out. Sometimes we’re out on the street capturing the life of the area, and other times we’re tucked away in the back doing edits on the computer until late at night. It’s a lot of sitting and a lot of standing, and my back usually aches by the time I head home. But Church Street is a good place to be, even with all the noise and the constant crowds.
