Our place, Chill Out, is located at No.509 in the Nandeeswara Complex on New Bel Road. This area is always buzzing because of the college students and the shops nearby. We wanted a place where people could just come and be themselves without any fuss. The interior is pretty basic. We have some benches and a few tables that have seen better days. One of the fans makes a clicking sound when it’s on the highest speed, but we haven't found a way to fix it yet. I spend most of my time behind the counter making drinks or snacks. It’s a small space, so it gets crowded quickly during the evening rush. We don't have a corporate hierarchy or anything like that. It’s just me and a couple of friends running the show. We usually play some music, but nothing too loud. The floor is made of grey tiles that show every bit of dirt, so we’re constantly mopping. New Bel Road is great for people-watching through the front glass. We see all sorts of characters walking by. We don’t have a big mission or a set of values pinned to the wall. We just want to keep the place open and make sure the fridge stays cold. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask customers if they have the exact amount. It’s a bit informal, but it works for the crowd we get here.
