About Chaitanya Vegetarian – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
If you walk down 8th Cross near Shivaji Nagar, you’ll see our sign right there on W O C Road. We’ve been serving vegetarian food here for quite some time. It’s a noisy area with a lot of traffic and people always moving somewhere, so the restaurant stays pretty active. We start the stoves well before the sun comes up because the breakfast crowd doesn't like to wait. We make the usual stuff—idlis, dosas, and some rice plates for lunch. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot in there during the afternoon, but the cooks are used to it by now. We don't have fancy waiters in uniforms; it’s just a few of us running around making sure the plates get to the tables while the food is still steaming. Some days the sambar is a little spicier than others, but that’s just how home-style cooking goes when you're doing it in big pots. We try to keep the prices where a regular working person can afford a meal every day without thinking twice. The furniture is old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s clean and the food is honest. We don't do any advertising. People just come in because they’ve been coming here for years or they heard from a neighbor. It’s just a regular place for regular people who want a quick, filling meal.
