Brunton Aster

Brunton Road is nice because it’s tucked away from the main noise of MG Road. Our spot at 2/2 has been there for a bit. It’s got these trees nearby that drop leaves all over the entrance every morning, so someone is always out there with a broom. It’s a bit different from the huge hotels because we actually recognize the people staying with us after a day or two. The lobby isn’t huge, but it’s got enough chairs for people waiting for their cabs. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just checking the computer for bookings. Sometimes the internet is fast, sometimes it isn't, that’s just how it goes here. The 560025 area is pretty central, so there’s always people walking around even late at night. We just try to keep the rooms tidy and make sure the towels are fresh. It’s a lot of laundry and checking light bulbs, really. I like the evening shift because the street lights come on and it feels a bit more peaceful. We don't do anything too complicated, just run the place as it is. Most guests are here for work in the city, so they’re out most of the day. It’s a steady rhythm of checking people in and saying goodbye when they head to the airport. The building stays cool because of the shade, which is a blessing during the summer months when Bangalore gets unexpectedly hot.
