Being on Kanakapura Road means there is always noise from the buses and cars passing by at all hours. Our shop at 50/1 is just a small place where we keep the daily essentials. We’ve been here for quite some time, and the building is showing its age a little, with some patches on the walls, but it’s sturdy enough. We mostly deal with the regulars who live in the nearby lanes. They come in for their morning milk, packets of tea, or maybe some soap they forgot to buy earlier in the week. It gets a bit cramped when the new stock arrives because the boxes take up all the floor space until we can get them onto the shelves. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a torch to find things in the back, but that’s just how it is around here. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who take turns sitting at the front. The counter is a bit scratched up from years of sliding bags across it. We try to keep things organized, but on busy Saturdays, it gets a bit messy with open sacks and loose change everywhere. It is a lot of work staying on your feet all day, but seeing the same faces every day makes the time go by faster. We are just a local shop trying to stay stocked for the neighborhood.
