Babu Rice Store

Babu Rice Store is located at 285, M G Road. If you know M G Road, you know it’s one of the busiest places you could choose to have a shop. There is always a lot of noise from the horns and people shouting, which filters right into the front of the store. We have been at this address for quite a while, and the place has a lot of character, mostly because it’s a bit old and we haven't changed much. We focus on selling rice, obviously, and we have various types sitting in bags around the floor. It’s a lot of weighing things out on the scales and tying up bags with string. The space is a bit small, so we have to be careful how we stack everything so there is still room for people to walk. We get a real mix of customers here, from people just buying a small bag for dinner to others who want enough to last a month. It’s a lot of talking and basic math all day long. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon and makes it pretty warm, but we have a fan that does its best. We don't try to be anything special, just a reliable spot on M G Road where you can get your rice and have a quick chat before heading back into the crowd. You get used to the noise after a few years on this street.
