Our shop is tucked away at 3 Kalasipalyam near Lalbaug. If you know this part of the city, you know how hectic it gets with all the trucks and people moving about constantly. We have been dealing with steel for a long time. It is heavy, physical work and our hands are usually covered in dust or rust by the time we close up. We get all sorts of people coming in, from small contractors to guys just looking for a few rods for a quick home repair. We spend most of our time measuring lengths and loading up vehicles out front. The office part of it is just a small corner where we keep the ledgers and a calculator. It gets quite loud around here with the sounds of metal clashing and the traffic noise from the main road. We do not really do anything fancy or special. We just stock the steel, cut it if someone needs a specific size, and sell it. Sometimes the supply is a bit slow from the mills and we have to tell people to wait a day or two, but that is just how the trade goes. We like being in Kalasipalyam because everything we need is close by. It is a gritty job, but it is what we know how to do. We do not have big sales pitches. People come in, ask the price, and we see if we can make a deal.
