Award Computers Repairs is tucked away at 108 Sadar Patrappa Road. If you’ve ever been to this road, you know it’s packed with shops and people carrying boxes everywhere. Our place is quite small, mostly taken up by a long workbench where we keep all the tools and the computers we’re working on. There are always laptops lying open with their insides showing, and tiny screws that you have to be careful not to lose. It’s the kind of place where the smell of hot solder is always in the air. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. The shelves are overflowing with spare monitors, old keyboards, and bags of cables that we’ve collected over the years. It looks like a mess to an outsider, but we can find a specific power adapter in about thirty seconds. People bring in stuff that’s been spilled on or dropped, and we just do what we can to get it working again. We don't have any corporate training or a slick front desk. You just come in, put your machine on the counter, and we take a look at it. Sometimes the repairs are quick, and sometimes we’re scratching our heads for days. It’s a lot of staring at small parts and hoping the parts we ordered arrive on time. We also help out with some basic software stuff if the hardware is actually fine.
