We are located over on 16th Main in BTM 2nd Stage, right across from the BSNL telephone exchange. It’s a pretty easy landmark to find if you’re in this part of Bangalore. The office is on the 7th Cross. It’s a standard workspace with desks and chairs and the usual insurance posters on the walls. We handle a lot of life insurance stuff here. People come in to ask about their policies or how to file a claim when things go wrong. It’s not the most cheerful business, but it is necessary. We spend a lot of time on the phone or typing into the system. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks, which is a bit of a disaster for us in the morning. The traffic on 16th Main is usually a mess during peak hours, so we hear the honking all day. We have a routine. We come in, check the messages, and start the paperwork. It’s a local branch, so we know some of the regulars who live nearby. We don’t try to be something we aren’t. It’s just an insurance office where we try to give people the right information without making it too confusing. It gets busy at the end of the month with all the renewals, but we just keep our heads down and work through it. There are usually three or four of us here at any given time, making sure the files are up to date and the phone is answered promptly.
