Aryas Veg Restaurant

Our little spot is located right on Ebrahim Saheb Street in Shivaji Nagar, which is a pretty hectic part of Bangalore if you’ve ever walked through it. We are situated directly opposite the Vysya Hostel, so we see a lot of students coming and going at all hours. The street outside is narrow and always filled with bikes and people pushing carts, so it can be a bit of a struggle just to get to the front door some mornings. We open up pretty early to get the first batch of coffee and food ready for the people heading to work. The walls inside could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fans make a bit of a clicking sound when they are on high, but it’s our place. We spend a lot of our time prepping vegetables in the back and keeping an eye on the big pots on the stove. It gets loud when the market nearby is in full swing, and the smell of the street sometimes drifts in, but that’s just part of being in this neighborhood. We don’t bother with anything too fancy. We just focus on getting the orders out and keeping the tables cleared off for the next person. It’s a constant cycle of washing dishes and refilling water jugs from morning until we finally pull the shutters down at night.
