This branch of Samsons Leather Garments is over at No. 86 Ezikiel Industrial Estate on Arabic College Road in Kg Halli. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories, so there’s a constant sound of machinery and metal. It’s a practical location for what we do. The space is large and a bit cold in the mornings, but it warms up once we get the machines going. We focus on bulk work here, so you’ll see long rows of benches and piles of leather waiting to be processed. The walls are just plain brick, and we’ve got some old posters from years ago still stuck to them. It’s not the kind of place where you’d bring a guest for a fancy meeting, but it’s perfect for getting things made. We spend a lot of time checking the equipment and making sure the needles are sharp. The guys here have been working with leather for a long time and know exactly how it behaves. We don't have a polished website or a PR person. We just rely on the fact that we do the work we’re supposed to do. Sometimes we have lunch together under the shade of the big tree near the gate, just to get away from the noise for a bit. It’s a tough environment, but it feels honest, and we take pride in the stuff we produce here.
