Anna Lakshmi

Madiwala is one of those places in Bangalore that everyone has a story about, usually involving the traffic. We are at No. 9 on the 11th Cross in New Uthi Nagar. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stand, but it’s a lot quieter once you get into the crosses. Anna Lakshmi is the name. This isn't a big corporate venture with a board of directors. It’s just us. The 11th Cross is a narrow street where the neighbors know your face. We’ve been operating from this spot for a good while. The house is a regular Bangalore building, painted a color that’s faded a bit over the years. We use the front part for our things. It’s practical because we don’t have to commute far and the rent doesn't kill us. Inside, it’s mostly shelves and a couple of workstations. Nothing that would win a design award, but it’s comfortable enough for a long day. Bangalore changes so fast, but Madiwala still has that old feeling in some of the lanes. We see the same delivery guys and the same dogs on the street every day. It’s a decent place to be. We don’t have any grand statements to make about what we do. We just do it from this address and try to keep things moving along without too much trouble. It's just a regular business in a regular neighborhood, nothing more and nothing less.
