Ankit Forgings

Down at 34 Nayandahalli, right near the 6th Mile on Mysore Road, you’ll find Ankit Forgings. It’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it, but you can usually hear us before you see us. Forging is loud, heavy work. The hammers make a thud that you can feel in your feet throughout the day. We’ve been here in Nayandahalli Town for a long time, watching the Mysore Road get bigger and the traffic get worse every single year. The workshop is always hot because of the furnaces, and we all end up pretty sweaty and tired by the time the sun goes down. It’s not a job for someone who wants to stay clean or sit in the air conditioning. We deal with raw metal and heat, turning things into the shapes they need to be. There’s a lot of soot and the walls are a bit dark from years of smoke, but that’s just the nature of a forge. We don’t spend time on fancy talk or trying to look bigger than we are. We are just a local shop in Bangalore doing what needs to be done with the hammers and the heat. Most of us have lived in this part of town forever. When the shift ends, we usually just want to get the dust off our faces and head home. It’s honest work, even if it’s noisy and a bit rough around the edges. We just keep the fire going and stay busy at the anvil.
