Anil Steel Centre

Down in Ganigarpet, you’ll find Anil Steel Centre. We are located at M M Lane, right by Nagarathpet Cross, number 44. If you know this area, you know it’s crowded and loud with all the trade going on every single day. We sell steel, mostly rods and sheets and whatever else people need for building things or repairing their houses. My father used to work in this line too, so it felt natural for me to keep the shop going. The shop isn't very big at all, and it gets quite dusty with all the metal scraps around. We spend a lot of time moving heavy stuff, so it keeps us moving. People come in looking for very specific sizes, and we do our best to find it in the back piles. Sometimes we have to tell them to come back tomorrow if the supply truck is delayed in traffic. The lanes here are so narrow that getting a big delivery in is always a massive challenge. You have to time it just right or the whole street gets blocked. We don’t have a website or any social media. People just know we are here from being around the market. Most of our customers have been coming to us for many years. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the rain to stop so we can load the trucks. It's a tough business, but we manage to stay afloat. It is just honest work.
