Anand Store

Anand Store is a simple neighborhood shop located in Cubbonpet 3. We have been here for a long time, serving the local people with their daily needs. The store is quite small and it is packed from floor to ceiling with all kinds of goods. We have big sacks of rice and lentils sitting on the floor, and the shelves are full of everything from tea leaves to cleaning supplies. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but I know exactly where everything is. Cubbonpet 3 is a lively street and there is always some noise from the people passing by. I spend my days standing behind the wooden counter, weighing out items and chatting with the customers. Many of the people who come in have been shopping here since they were children. We don't use any modern computers or barcode scanners. I just write the prices down and add them up in my head or on a piece of paper. It is a very traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. The smell in the shop is a mix of spices and soaps, which is something I’ve grown to love. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. The shop is just a part of the daily life in Cubbonpet. We open up the shutters every morning and stay until late in the evening to make sure everyone gets what they need.
