Alliance Food Works

Alliance Food Works is tucked inside the AC Market at 2116 in HRBR Layout. Being inside a market means there’s always a lot of activity around us, with people carrying boxes and shouting across the aisles. Our space is mostly used for preparing food and getting everything ready for distribution. It’s not really a place for people to come and hang out. We have a lot of metal prep tables and big industrial sinks. The air in the AC market is supposed to be cool, but near our stoves, it’s always pretty warm. We spend hours chopping vegetables and mixing ingredients in large bowls. It’s repetitive work, but we’ve got a good rhythm going now. Some of the staff have been here since we first opened this unit. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things from getting too boring while we work. The floors get slippery if we aren't careful, so we are constantly mopping up spills. We handle a lot of orders every day and sometimes the paperwork gets a bit messy on the small desk in the corner. It’s a functional space, nothing pretty to look at. We just focus on getting the food prepped and packed so it can go where it needs to go. It’s a busy life in the market, but we are used to the noise and the constant movement.
