Alekhya Rice Traders

We have been here at New Thippasandra 6th Cross for a while now. The shop is at 1830/F, right in the 3rd Stage. It's mostly bags of rice everywhere you look. We deal with different varieties like Sona Masuri, Basmati, and raw rice that people use for daily cooking. The morning starts with unloading the trucks. It gets a bit dusty with the gunny bags, but that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with grains. Our space isn't huge, but we manage to keep enough stock for the families living around 4th Main. People stop by on their way home to pick up a five-kilo or ten-kilo bag. Sometimes they just want to check the quality before buying a whole sack. We don't have fancy displays. The rice is kept in open samples so you can see the grain and smell it. Dealing with rice means keeping an eye on the moisture and making sure the storage stays dry, especially when the rains start in Bangalore. It's hard work lifting those heavy bags all day, and my back definitely feels it by evening. But we know most of our neighbors here by face. We just keep things moving, making sure the local kitchens have what they need for dinner. It’s a simple business, really. No big office or anything, just the shop and the rice bags and a lot of sweeping. Most days we are just busy with the scales and the ledger.
