About Alankrita - Hand Crafted Arts – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
We are located at 22, Raj Bhawan Road, just off Union Street. It’s a nice enough area, and being Alankrita means we spend our days surrounded by all sorts of hand-crafted pieces. The shop isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit a lot into the space we have. You can usually find me near the workbench in the corner where the light is better. We get a lot of people walking by who just pop their heads in to see what we are working on. It’s not a formal place at all. Sometimes the floor is a mess with scraps of wood or fabric, depending on what project is currently underway. We don't really follow a strict corporate manual or anything like that. We just show up, see what needs to be finished, and get to it. My hands are usually stained with paint or ink by lunchtime. We have an old radio that stays on most of the day, playing whatever station has the least static. It’s a practical way to spend the day. We don't try to make the shop look like a gallery; it’s more of a working studio where things are actually made. Sometimes we run out of supplies and I have to run down the street to grab what we need. It’s a small, local operation and we just enjoy the process of making things by hand.
