Ajay Rice Corner

Ajay Rice Corner is tucked away on Kurubarahalli Road, right in the Main Bazar of Pimpri B Block. If you're looking for us, we're at number 99/180/5. It’s a crowded area, lots of shops around, so it can be a bit noisy. We deal mostly in different kinds of rice. You'll see the big bags stacked up when you walk in. I spend most of my day just weighing out portions for people who come in. Some want just a few kilos for the week, others take a whole bag for the month. It's a lot of lifting, moving those heavy sacks around. My back usually feels it by the end of the day. The shop isn't very big, so we have to keep things organized or you can't even move. I’ve lived around here for a long time, so I know a lot of the faces that come through the door. We talk about the weather or how the prices are going up again. It’s just how things go in the bazar. We open up pretty early to catch the morning crowd before it gets too hot. By the afternoon, it slows down a bit, then picks up again in the evening. There’s always dust from the road, so I’m constantly wiping things down. It’s just me and sometimes a helper. We just sell rice, nothing else really. It’s steady work and keeps me busy from morning to night.
