We are located right on Banaswadi Main Road, which means we spend most of our day hearing the constant buzz of traffic passing by. Ahmad Furniture has been in this spot for quite some time now, and the shop is usually filled with the smell of cut wood and polish. It’s not a showroom where everything is perfectly staged under bright lights. Instead, you’ll find chairs stacked up and tables that are still being worked on. We have tools lying around and sawdust on the floor because we’re actually making and fixing things here. Most of the work is done by hand, and it can get pretty loud when the saws are running. We take in old sofas that need new fabric and build cabinets for people in the neighborhood. It’s a simple operation. Sometimes a customer comes in with a drawing on a scrap of paper, and we try to figure out how to make it work. The front of the shop stays open to the street, so it gets a bit dusty, but that’s just part of being on a main road. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most folks just see our sign while they’re stuck in traffic and decide to stop in. It’s honest work, and we like the feeling of finishing a piece of furniture that’s going to last a long time in someone's home.
