Our office and store are on the second floor of the UGC Centre, which sits right on Lingarajapuram Main Road. Being on the second floor means we don’t get a lot of random people wandering in, so most folks who come up the stairs are here for something very specific. We deal in machinery and various industrial parts, so the place is often crowded with heavy boxes and metal components that take up a lot of floor space. It isn't the most beautiful office you’ve ever seen, as there are desks squeezed in between stacks of inventory and catalogs. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or on the computer looking up part numbers for customers who have machines that broke down. The stairs can be a bit of a pain when we have to carry something heavy down to a customer's vehicle, but we are used to it by now. There is usually a bit of grease on the counters and the smell of machine oil in the air. We keep a small radio in the corner to help cover the sound of the buses and horns from the main road outside. Sometimes the delivery drivers have trouble finding the entrance to the building, so we have to go out on the balcony to wave them in. We just go about our business and try to make sure every order that goes out is the right one.
