A R Battery Centre

A R Battery Centre is located in the Rudrappa Compound, which is right on Lalbagh Road. We are pretty much across the street from Urvashi Theatre, so it’s easy to spot us by the crowds going to the movies. The shop is at the junction of 100 Feet Road and 28th Main in the 9th Block. It is a very busy area with cars honking all day long. We mostly deal with all kinds of batteries for cars, bikes, and even the big invertors people use at home when the power cuts out. The shelves are heavy with lead-acid batteries and there’s always a few old ones sitting on the floor waiting to be recycled. We spend a lot of time testing voltages and cleaning off terminals with wire brushes. Our hands are usually a bit stained from the grease and dirt of the engine bays. It’s a small space, so we do most of the work right out on the edge of the pavement. People pull up with dead engines, and we have to jump-start them or swap out the old units quickly so they don't block the road. It gets pretty loud and dusty with all the traffic passing by, but we have been in this spot for years. We don't have any fancy waiting room, just a couple of stools for customers to sit on while we finish the work. It’s just us and the batteries in the middle of all that chaos.
