Our shop, Ptp Cnc Toolings Pvt Ltd, sits at D74&75 in the Dutch Indl. Estate over in Udayambag. It’s one of those places where everyone is busy making things. The industrial estate has a lot of units, so there’s always the sound of cutting and grinding in the air. We focus on toolings here. It’s precise work, and you have to pay attention to the machines or things go wrong quickly. The units D74 and D75 are right next to each other, so we have a bit of room to move our gear around. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, with oil smells and metal shavings everywhere, but that’s normal for a machine shop. We’ve got some old machines and some newer ones too. The light in the morning is actually quite nice before the heat builds up in the afternoon. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the cycles to finish. Most of our neighbors in Udayambag do similar stuff, so we all know the struggle of keeping things running. We don’t have a big front desk or anyone to greet you; you just walk in and find someone on the floor. Ptp Cnc Toolings Pvt Ltd is just a place where we put in our hours and get the tools made.
