Tip Top Hair Dressing Saloon has been on M B Road in Birati for years. You can find us right on the ground floor, just across from Sugar and Spice. It's a small shop, nothing too big, but we have everything needed for a decent haircut or a shave. I've spent a lot of my life standing behind these chairs. Kolkata gets hot, so we try to keep the place cool for everyone who walks in. We mostly do men’s hair and beard trims. It’s a simple setup. We have the old-style chairs that still work perfectly fine. A lot of the men from Birati come here on their way home from work or on Sunday mornings. We talk about the weather or whatever is happening in the city while I work. It gets noisy outside with the traffic on M B Road, but inside we just focus on the hair. I don’t use any complicated machines, just my scissors, combs, and a steady hand. My father taught me the trade, and I’ve just kept it going. We aren’t looking to be the biggest shop in Kolkata, just a reliable one where you know what you’re getting. Sometimes the floor is covered in hair when we’re busy, but we sweep up as fast as we can. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. If you need a quick trim, we are usually here from morning until the shops close. No frills.
