You can find Rupsagari Beauty Parlour at 102 Feeder Road in Kolkata. I have been working here for a long time and the neighborhood has changed a lot since we first opened the doors. Feeder Road is always moving with people and rickshaws, so there is never a quiet moment outside. Inside, it is a bit different. We have a couple of chairs and mirrors where we do hair styling and basic skin stuff for the local women. Most of my customers live in the flats nearby or work in the shops down the street. It is the kind of place where someone might come in just to get their eyebrows done and end up staying for half an hour just to talk. I do most of the work myself, though sometimes I have someone helping me when it gets really busy during the wedding season. The walls are painted a simple color and I have some old posters up. I don't see the point in making it look like those expensive places in the malls. We use what works and we take our time with each person. It feels more like a community spot than a business sometimes. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and leaks a bit near the door, so we just put a bucket there and keep going. That is just part of being in an old building in Kolkata.
