Prothama Ladies Beauty Saloon

MB Road is a long stretch, and our little spot, Prothama Ladies Beauty Saloon, is right near Parbon Bastra Bipani. In this part of Kolkata, things move at their own pace. We mostly see women from the nearby apartments who need a quick threading or maybe a hair trim before a wedding or a puja. The shop isn't very large, so it can get a little cramped when three or four people show up at the same time. We have some shelves with local creams and bottles, and the chairs are older but comfortable enough. The light comes in from the front window, and you can always hear the rickshaws and buses going past on MB Road. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that; we just handle everything ourselves. If we are busy, customers just wait on the bench and talk about their day or what they are buying at the market. It’s a very local vibe, like talking to a neighbor rather than going to a big corporate parlor. We’ve been here for a while and have seen many girls grow up and start coming here on their own. It’s just a normal part of the street, nothing fancy or expensive. We just do the work, clean up the hair from the floor, and get ready for the next person who walks in from the street. There is always someone coming by to say hello even if they don't need anything.
