Manolovo Ladies Beauty Parlours is situated at 16/A, B T Road, which is right near the Belgharia Expressway in Kolkata. Being so close to the expressway means there is always a lot of movement. You can hear the heavy trucks and the cars rushing by all day long. It is a very busy part of the city to be in. Our shop is easy to spot if you are looking for 16/A. We have been here for a while, and the walls have seen many faces. Inside, the light is bright and we try to keep things organized, even when we are in a rush. Many of our customers are women who are commuting or live in the nearby apartments. They stop in because it is convenient to reach. We don’t have those fancy chairs that recline all the way back like the big city salons, but they are sturdy. The floor is tiled and we spend a lot of time sweeping up hair after a busy afternoon. Sometimes the tea boy from the corner brings us snacks while we work. It’s a practical place. We don’t use complicated words for what we do. If someone wants a haircut or a facial, we do it. The noise from B T Road never really stops, but you get used to it. It’s just a part of our daily life here at Manolovo. We are just local people serving other local people.
