Digitech

Digitech is based out of Dream Apartment on Italgacha Road in Dumdum. It’s not your typical glass-fronted office; we operate right from number 1 in the building. Being in Dumdum means we are close to the airport and the metro, so people find it easy to drop things off or come by for a chat. We deal with a lot of technical stuff, mostly computers and electronics that have stopped working or need a bit of help. There are wires and circuit boards sitting on the tables most days. It might look like a mess to someone walking in, but we know where every screw and cable belongs. We don't have a big reception desk or a sign that lights up at night. Usually, we are just sitting at the workbenches with our tools. The tea stall downstairs is where we spend our breaks, talking to the neighbors from the other apartments. Sometimes the internet is slow, or we are waiting on a part to arrive from across town, but we keep busy with whatever else is on the bench. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who know our way around a motherboard. We don't do much talking about solutions—we just fix what’s broken and try to get it back to the owner as soon as we can. It’s straightforward work that keeps us on our toes and the apartment is usually humming with the sound of cooling fans and small talk.
