Our office is tucked away at No. 3 Rifle Range Road in Belgharia. It’s a bit of a distance from the main city center, which means it’s a little quieter around here, though the trains nearby make plenty of noise. We spend our days surrounded by computer parts, motherboard boxes, and a lot of tangled cables that never seem to stay organized no matter how hard we try. The walls are mostly bare, maybe a few old posters or a clock that runs a few minutes fast. We have workbenches set up with soldering irons and small screwdrivers scattered about. There’s always a hum in the air from the cooling fans of the machines we are testing. It’s the kind of place where you have to be careful where you step so you don’t trip over a power strip or a box of hard drives. In the rainy season, the dampness creeps in a bit, so we have to be extra careful with the electronics. We usually have a small radio playing in the corner just to have some background noise while we work. It’s not a large operation, just a few of us trying to keep up with the repairs and the systems people need. We drink a lot of tea and spend a lot of time staring at screens. We have been running Quantum Techno Systems Pvt. Ltd. from this Belgharia spot long enough that we can almost do the repairs in our sleep. The light is a bit dim, but we have enough lamps to see.
