Sri Mahalakshmi Timbers

Sri Mahalakshmi Timbers is located at 71/2 on Nelamangala Chitra Talkies Road. It’s a pretty busy road, mostly because of the cinema nearby. People are always walking past on their way to see a movie. We have a large yard where we keep all the timber. It is mostly open to the air, so we are always checking the weather. If it looks like rain, we have to scramble to cover the more sensitive wood. We’ve been in Nelamangala for quite a while now. The business is mostly about manual labor and keeping track of the different types of wood we have in stock. Our office is just a small corner room with a big desk and a calendar on the wall. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or coordinating deliveries. It gets very loud when the saws are running, so we usually have to shout to be heard. Most of the staff has been with us for years, so we all know how the yard works. We get a lot of dust from the road and the wood itself, so things are never perfectly clean. It’s a tough job but it’s what we know. In the evenings, when the Chitra Talkies starts its late show, the street gets even busier. We usually finish up around that time and head home, leaving the wood stacked up for the next day. It’s been our way of life for a long time now.
