If you head down Lbs Marg in Nelamangala, you'll eventually find us at 71/3 A. That’s where Shanthi Vijaya Saw Mills is located. You can usually hear the sound of the place before you actually see the gate because the saws make quite a bit of noise when we're cutting through the big timber logs. The yard is usually full of wood, stacked up high and waiting to be processed for customers. We’ve been working with timber here for a good number of years now. It’s a bit of a messy job with all the sawdust flying around the place, but it’s what we know how to do best. We have a small crew of workers who handle the machinery and move the heavy planks around the yard. It’s very physical work and it can be quite tiring, especially when the sun is beating down on us. We get all sorts of different wood coming in, and we cut it according to what the local builders or furniture makers need for their projects. We don't have a fancy office to show off; we mostly spend our time out where the actual work is happening. The smell of fresh-cut wood is something you just get used to after working here for a while. It’s a very straightforward business without any extra bells or whistles. We just focus on getting the timber cut right and getting it out the gate so the trucks can move it.
