Sami Vistar Farmers Producer Company Limited is based at the Sami Market Yard. Our office is officially listed care of Thakor Sangitaben Bharatji, and we are right in the heart of the village and taluka of Sami. Being inside the market yard means we are always in the middle of the action. From early in the morning, you can hear the sounds of voices and vehicles as people bring their goods in. Our office is a small, modest space where we handle the records for the producer company. It’s often a bit cluttered with stacks of paper and sample bags, but we know where everything is. Sangitaben and the rest of us spend the day greeting people who come in from the nearby fields. There’s a ceiling fan that hums away all day long, trying to push the warm air around. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or expensive interiors. It’s just a place to sit, talk, and figure out the day’s business. In the evenings, things quiet down a little bit as the market clears out, and that is usually when we finish up our paperwork. The walls are a little dusty from the wind blowing through the yard, but that’s normal for this part of Gujarat. We like being right where the farmers are, as it makes it easier for everyone to stop by and have a chat without going out of their way. It’s a very local, down-to-earth kind of operation we have here.
