Royal Hosiries

Royal Hosiries is located at 15, Ten Pillars Lane in the Vilakkuthoon area. If you know Madurai, you know Vilakkuthoon is the heart of the cloth trade. Ten Pillars Lane is a narrow, busy spot where everything is constantly moving. Our building is old, like most of the structures around here, but it serves us well. We deal with all sorts of hosiery items. The rooms are stacked high with boxes and bundles of fabric. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when we get a big shipment in or when we’re packing things up to go out. The noise from the street is always there, with bikes and carts passing by constantly. We’ve been here for years, and the people in the neighboring shops are like family. We don't have an air-conditioned office or fancy furniture. We just have our desks, some stools, and a lot of stock. Most of our day is spent counting items and checking quality. It’s a lot of manual work and staying on our feet. We don't use any complicated systems, just simple record-keeping. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the lane a bit difficult, but we just keep the doors closed and carry on. It’s a traditional way of doing business in a very traditional part of town. We just do our work and stay busy with the daily orders.
