We’re out at D-16 in the MIDC area of Waluj. It’s a proper industrial zone, so there isn’t much around except other factories and workshops. Clad Metal India Pvt. Ltd. fits right in here. Our building is a simple structure that’s seen a lot of work over the years. We handle metal, so it’s naturally a bit loud and messy inside. There’s no lobby with air conditioning or fancy chairs for visitors. You walk straight into where the work actually happens. The floor is covered in metal shavings and we always tell people to watch their step. Waluj is a bit far from the main city, so most of us commute together or live somewhere nearby. We’ve got a steady rhythm to the day. The machines start up early, and we don’t stop until the evening shift takes over. We don't spend much time thinking about branding or things like that. We’re more worried about the quality of the cladding and making sure the dimensions are right for the day's orders. It’s honest work that leaves you pretty tired by the time you get home. We have some old fans that rattle quite a bit, but they keep the air moving on hot days. We’ve stayed in Waluj because it’s where the industry is. People know where D-16 is if they’ve been in the metal business for any amount of time. We don’t really need to be anywhere else. It’s a tough environment, but it is where we belong. We just get on with it.
