Akash Dhaba & Family Restaurant

If you are heading out to see the Ellora Caves, you will find us on the Aurangabad Road. We are right there opposite the Aurangabad Himroo Showroom. Most people stop here because they are tired from walking around the caves all day and they need some fuel. It’s a dhaba style setup, so it’s very open and a bit dusty because of the highway traffic, but that’s part of the experience. We have plenty of space for families to sit together. We see a lot of tourists from all over, but we also get the local truck drivers who know where the good portions are. The Maharashtra heat can be a lot, so we make sure there is plenty of water and some shade. It’s not a five-star setup, just basic wooden or plastic chairs and heavy tables. We do our best to keep up with the lunch rush when the tour buses arrive. Sometimes the service is a bit slow if everyone walks in at once, but we are just human and we work as fast as our hands allow. The kitchen smells like spices and smoke most of the day. We’ve been here in Aurangabad for a good while now, watching the buses go by. It’s a simple business, really. We just cook what people like to eat when they are traveling. You get a view of the road and a chance to rest your legs before you head back. We don't need fancy signs to stay busy.
