Sona Brick

We've been making bricks here in Sripur for a good while now. Our place is over in Babla Dangal, just near the Sripur Bazar post office. It's a busy spot in Burdwan district. Most days you’ll find us out in the yard checking on the kilns. We keep things pretty simple. The work is hard and it gets dusty, but that’s just how brick making goes. We see a lot of local folks coming by for their building projects. The kilns keep running through most of the year, depending on the weather. Sometimes the rain slows us down, especially during the monsoon months, but we get back to it as soon as the ground dries up. It’s a local operation, nothing too fancy. We just focus on getting the stacks ready for whoever needs them in the village or further out in the district. It’s mostly just us and a few workers from around here. We’ve seen the area change quite a bit over the years, with more houses going up. Being based in Babla Dangal means we are right where the action is. If you're driving through Sripur Bazar, you've probably seen our stacks. We don't spend much time in an office; we'd rather be out where the clay is. It's what we know how to do. The bricks are solid and we try to keep the supply moving as best as we can for our neighbors. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
