Sukhdev Singh & Sons General Store

This is Sukhdev Singh & Sons General Store. We are located at Shop No. 6 on Ram Tirth Road. You can find us pretty easily because we are quite close to the Vridh Aashram here in Amritsar. It is a family-run place, just like the name says. My father started it, and now we all help out when we can. The shop is filled with everything from soap to flour. We don't have a lot of space for fancy displays, so we just put the goods on the shelves where they fit. The road outside can get quite busy with people heading towards the outskirts of the city. I spend a lot of my day sitting on a stool near the entrance, waiting for customers. When it rains, the water splashes a bit near the door, so we have to move the sacks of grain back. It is a lot of heavy lifting, moving boxes and crates around every few days. We try to keep things that the local families use most. Nothing here is overpriced or special; it is just what you need for your daily life. I like the routine of it. Opening up, checking the dates on the milk, and talking to the people who live in the nearby blocks. It is an honest way to make a living in Amritsar. We've been here for years and the shop hasn't changed much except for the stock on the shelves.
