Simmar Karyana Store

Simmar Karyana Store is right outside Gali No-10 in the Main Bazar of Sunder Nagar. Being in Amritsar, the 143001 area is always full of life and a lot of noise. We have our shop right on the edge of the lane where people are always moving back and forth. It is a karyana store, so we keep all the dry groceries and household items that a family needs for their kitchen. The Main Bazar is a competitive place but we have our regular customers who have been coming to us for years. I wake up early to open the shutters because the morning shoppers like to get their stuff before the sun gets too strong. The shop is filled with the smell of different spices because we keep them in open sacks sometimes. We have many wooden drawers for smaller items like matches and needles. The space is a bit tight and sometimes we have to move sacks of flour just to let someone pass through. My uncle started this place and I took over after him. We don't really do any advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here at Gali No-10. It’s a busy life and sometimes the evening rush makes me very tired, but seeing the familiar faces of the Sunder Nagar people makes it okay. We just keep things moving and try to make sure we don't run out of the basics like salt or sugar.
