Shri Ram Departmental Store

Our store is on the Main GT Road in Chheharta, Amritsar. We are at Shop No 50. The Kalgidhar Gurudwara is quite near us, so we get a lot of people passing by on their way there. Shri Ram Departmental Store has been around for quite some time now. Even though the name says departmental store, we are really just a large local shop for the neighborhood. We try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. You can find groceries, some household items, and plenty of snacks for the kids. Being on the GT Road means it’s always busy with traffic and trucks going past. We see a lot of different people, not just the locals who live here. It’s a lot of hard work keeping the shelves full and the floor clean. We manage everything ourselves. We don't have any corporate training or fancy uniforms. We just learned how to run a shop by doing it every single day. The shop can get a bit cluttered when we have new crates of soda or water bottles delivered. We just move things around to make a small path for the customers to walk through. People don't seem to mind much. They just want their items and maybe a quick word about the weather or the traffic. We like being in the Chheharta area. It’s a good community with nice people. We stay open late most nights because the main road stays busy until late. It is just a regular life.
