Shergill General Store

You can find Shergill General Store over in the Green Avenue area of Amritsar, which is near the Custom Chownk. We are located right on the Main Bazar stretch there. The shop is a straightforward place where we keep the usual household supplies. We’ve got a variety of things like dairy products, packaged snacks, toiletries, and some basic stationery. It’s a decent-sized shop compared to some others in the city, but it’s still just a local family operation. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter or restocking the shelves when things get low. Green Avenue is a bit of a nicer neighborhood, so we try to keep the shop looking as neat as we can, though it’s hard when you have so many different items. The fridge for the milk and cold drinks is a bit old and makes a humming noise that you can hear throughout the store. We have a lot of regular customers who live in the houses nearby and stop in on their way back from the park or work. We don't have a website or any fancy advertisements; people just know we are here. Sometimes the kids come in to buy a single piece of chocolate or a pencil, and we don't mind the small sales. It’s just about being part of the community and making sure the neighbors have a place to get their daily needs.
