Randhawa General Store

If you walk down the Main Bazar in Basti Kali Beri, you’ll find Randhawa General Store. We are right near the local Gurdwara, so it’s always a very lively spot to be in. Amritsar is a busy place, especially around here. We open up early because people often stop by before or after they visit the Gurdwara. It’s a lot of work keeping everything stocked because the bazar gets so crowded that even getting a small cart through can be a headache. We have all the basic stuff you’d expect in a general store like matches, oil, and biscuits. The shop isn't very large, but we make the most of the space we have. There are boxes stacked up in the corners and some things hanging from the ceiling. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s how a real shop looks when it's being used. We don't have a big team of people, just a few of us making sure things don't run out. We’ve lived in this area forever, so we know most of the people who walk through the door by name. It’s nice to have that connection with the community. We don't bother with fancy slogans or anything. We just sit here, sell our goods, and listen to the sounds of the bazar. It’s just a normal shop for normal people who need their daily essentials and a bit of conversation.
