Rakesh Kumar Karyana Store

Rakesh Kumar Karyana Store is situated on Fatehgarh Churian Road, right near Rattan Singh Chownk in Amritsar. Being on a main road means we get a lot of dust and a lot of noise from the trucks passing by. The shop is a basic setup with rows of shelves and some glass jars on the counter for the smaller items like candies and matches. We spend a good part of our day just checking the dates on things and making sure we have enough stock for the morning rush. The light comes in through the front door because we don't have many windows. It gets a bit dark in the back where we keep the heavy bags of rice and flour. We use a simple scale to weigh things out for people who don't want the pre-packed stuff. The counter is usually covered with a few loose papers and a calculator that has seen a lot of use. We don't have any polished displays or bright signs. It’s just a place to get your groceries and move on with your day. Sometimes we have a cup of tea while waiting for the next person to stop their scooter outside. The day goes by slowly but we are always busy with something, whether it’s cleaning or reordering supplies. It’s a regular routine that we’ve been doing for a long time now.
