New Grace Beauty Salon & Academy

New Grace Beauty Salon & Academy is at Shop Number 2879 in Gali Ariyan in Amritsar. We are located right opposite Sarabjit Jewellers and near the Maan Singh Gate. Because we are also an academy we have a bit more space than a regular shop so that students can stand around and watch what is being done. There are several stools kept in the corner for the girls who come to learn the work. The walls are covered with mirrors and some posters that show different types of makeup and hair designs. Amritsar is a very busy city and Gali Ariyan is no exception with people constantly moving through the narrow lanes. The sound of the market is always there in the background. We have several wash basins and a lot of different machines for hair and skin that we have collected over the years. I spend a lot of time explaining things to the students while I am working on a customer. The floor is made of white marble which is traditional for this part of the city but it requires a lot of scrubbing to keep it looking clean. During the wedding season the place gets very crowded and we often stay open much later than usual. The tea from the local stall is brought over in a wire carrier and we drink it quickly between jobs. It is a place for learning and working at the same time.
