New Deluxe General Store

New Deluxe General Store is located in the New Misri Bazar area of Amritsar. Don't let the name fool you because there is nothing really deluxe about us we are just a regular shop selling everyday items to the local community. Misri Bazar is an old part of the city and the streets are narrow so it feels very tight when the delivery carts come through. We have been here for a long time and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if I ever found the time to do it. Mostly I am just busy weighing out portions of sugar or looking for the right brand of tea that a customer wants. The shop has a specific smell of spices and old wood which I have grown used to over the years. We stay open late because people in this part of Amritsar often do their shopping after the sun goes down and it gets a bit cooler. I keep a small radio on the shelf to listen to the news while I work. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to talk for a bit even if they don't need to buy anything that day. We handle everything from cleaning supplies to snacks and it is all piled up in a way that only I really understand. It is a bit chaotic but it works for us and we manage to get through the day one customer at a time.
