Melar Ram General Store

If you are heading down Amritsar Road in Haripura, you might have seen us. Melar Ram General Store is located right on Street No.3, pretty close to the State Bank of India. It’s a handy landmark for people who aren't from around here. We carry all sorts of small things that people need for their homes. From needles and thread to snacks and cleaning stuff, it’s all packed in here. The shop isn't massive, so things are stacked pretty high on the shelves. Sometimes we have to move a few boxes just to find a specific brand of biscuits a customer wants. It gets a bit dusty with the road being so close, but we try to keep up with the cleaning. Being near the bank means there’s always people walking past. Some just pop in for a cold drink or a pack of gum while they wait for their turn. We’ve been part of this street for quite some time now. It’s a simple life, opening up in the morning and closing when the sun goes down. We know most of the people living in the nearby houses by their first names. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front. It’s just me and sometimes my nephew helping out when school is off. We just want to make sure the locals have what they need nearby without having to travel far. It works for us and keeps us busy enough.
